Cellulite Treatment Options

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

By Susan Megge We women are sick and tired of the dimples that seem to cling to our thighs; theyre not cute, happy dimples, but rather ugly cottage cheesy cellulite. We want beautiful, smooth legs that we can be proud to show off, and not feel that its necessary to wear shorts or a sarong over our bathing suits in order to protect spectators from such a dreadful sight. Unfortunately, there is no permanent cure for cellulite, but there are treatments available that may (and I do mean may) help some women get just a little bit of temporary improvement. Treatments for cellulite range from harmless and barely effective to potentially harmful with no proven effectiveness, but some are worth looking into. What is Cellulite? Believe it or not, the fat in cellulite is just plain old fat, the same as any other fat on your body. The term cellulite became popular in 1973 by an author and spa owner, and refers to the dimpled appearance of the skin seen in areas of the hips, thighs, and buttocks. As you may know, cellulite is more common in women because of the way a women’s body distributes fat. Experts estimate that about 85% of women develop cellulite. Because men have thicker skin, which is much better at hiding the fat beneath, its not likely that youll see a lot of men with cellulite. Treatment Options Cellulite is perfectly normal and isnt a disease, therefore, there is no cure. There are, however, options available to reduce cellulite and its appearance. Sticking to a regular exercise routine, eating a healthy diet lower in calories and fat, and maintaining a healthy weight may work as a cellulite treatment for some people. Losing weight will most definitely reduce the proportion of fat in your body, thus reducing the proportion of the fat that’s trapped in cellulite, but you may still notice some amount of cellulite on your trouble areas. This is due to the fact that the appearance of cellulite is genetically predetermined and in some cases diet and exercise dont make a significant improvement. Topical Creams As you know, there is a number of creams available claiming to reduce and eliminate the appearance of cellulite. Generally, if a cream is to be effective the results are modest and usually not permanent, but some experts suggest if youre determined to give the creams a try, its a good idea to look for those products that contain caffeine or theophylline. While some studies suggest that these ingredients may have an effect on cellulite and cause fat cells to dissolve, other studies disagree. Some experts even go so far as to say that applying a cream to your cellulite will not be effective since your skin was designed as a protective barrier to keep things out. That being said, there are many people who have used cellulite creams and believe that they have seen results. If you want to try a cellulite cream, its strongly recommended that you purchase a less expensive cream, as usually the ingredients dont differ from the more expensive brands. Endermologie A very well-know treatment for cellulite is Endermologie, a deep-massage, which uses a device that suctions the skin with a vacuum and kneads it with a set of rollers. Some studies have shown the deep-tissue massage can break up some of the fibrous bands, assist with circulation, and improve the appearance of the skin. While this treatment may work for some women, the effects don’t last and you’ll need regular maintenance treatments to keep the desired appearance. Typically, Endermologie sessions can cost anywhere from $100 to several hundred dollars, and are performed weekly, usually taking about an hour per session. Some people have seen excellent results with this treatment, but it can be costly, therefore, its best to go this route only if you have a significant amount of disposable income. Mesotherapy Mesotherapy, involves a series of injections into small pockets of cellulite. They contain a solution (a combination of homeopathic medications and supplements) that is supposed to break down fat and flush it away. While this treatment is widely accepted in Europe, it has not been scientifically studied in the United States and many experts are skeptical of its effectiveness. Due to the lack of scientific proof, this treatment is not recommended, as the risk for side effects from several injections is certainly a possibility. Additionally, Mesotherapy can be quite expensive, with individual sessions costing perhaps hundreds of dollars. Herbal Medicines To date there has been no proof that any combination of herbs or vitamins is known to be effective in treating cellulite. If youd like to attempt this treatment, however, its a good idea to check with your health care provider first, since it can cause dangerous interactions with other medications. Dont let the term natural mislead you; even natural substances can be dangerous. Liposuction The average woman may think that liposuction is the perfect remedy for cellulite since what theyre trying to do is eliminate fat and thats what liposuction does, right? Unfortunately, liposuction is designed to eliminate fat thats deep beneath the skin. As you know, cellulite is nearly right at the surface of the skin. Additionally, its the fibrous bands that give cellulite its dimply appearance, so eliminating the fat alone wont really give the results youre looking for. So whats the Answer? In the end, theres not a whole lot of evidence to show that any treatment is effective in treating cellulite. If youre at your wits end and are determined to do something, its best to experiment with a treatment that poses no health risks. Keep in mind, however, that the results will likely be modest and you shouldnt invest too much money at least until a treatment is developed whose results are proven effective. My advice is to do the best you can with diet and exercise and creams if you choose but the next time you get really discouraged, pick up a tabloid magazine and take a look at some of the photos of the perfect and beautiful celebrities; they have cellulite too, and they also have endless amounts of cash. If even the richest women in the world are dealing with cellulite theres a good chance we average women will have to accept it (at least some amount of cellulite) too. What’s In and What’s Out in the World of Weight Loss and Fitness

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By Kevin Gianni I’m under the impression that the health and fitness world wants to keep the information that I’m about to tell you as a guarded secret. Why? So we don’t lose our jobs! If everyone one knows what’s new and hot in the industry, who needs to fitness professional, right? Well, I’m willing to take the chance and actually give you the information–burst the bubble and tell you what the buzz is in our little world–so you can get a quick start in 2007 on your fitness and health goals and get yourself in the shape you’ve always dreamed of. There’s always new and incredible products on the market and believe me some of these things are absolutely awesome! But others, as I’m sure you know are complete duds… how many of you still have the Thigh Master? Which diet should you try? Which supplements should you buy? Where is everyone exercising this year? This year it looks like some of the old standbys, I mean thousand year old standbys, are in, while some of the fads of 2006 are fading fast–soon to be outdated and replaced with what REALLY works! So without further ado, here’s a list of what’s in for 2006 and what is old new from 2005. Atkins is OUT Sorry, no more pepperoni and sausage pizzas sans crust. The Atkins company went under last year after operating briefly without it’s fearless leader, Dr. Robert Atkins, who died of complications from a fall on the ice in 2004… which certainly is something I’ve always found fishy… considering the heart risks that come with his diet. Could something like an MI cause a sudden collapse on a slippery sidewalk? Hmmm. The Atkins Diet helped people lose record weight, but also caused greasy skin, raised cholesterol and increased the chance of the yo-yo diet by promoting a way of eating that at best could be called “grossly unnatural”. Raw Foods IN! Carol Alt is our new leader. The raw food revolution has taken its hold due to her persistent work and promotion. More people are recognizing the benefits of raw foods and how they can increase your health. Diets full of raw foods–30-40% is OK, 50-60% is excellent–will help lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, regulate blood sugar levels, help you lose weight and get you healthy in no time. What’s so special about uncooked foods? Much of the cooked and packaged foods we eat are completely depleted of nutrients because of the way they are prepared. Raw foods not only keep the nutrients intact–just as nature wanted–they also carry live enzymes that your body needs for great health and fitness. Get out and buy a book or two on how to cook (sorry… “prepare”!) raw foods, incorporate them into your diet once a day and you’ll see the difference immediately! Bench Press OUT Sorry, Muscleheads, the bench press is old news. Keep piling on the weight and watch your shoulders and rotator cuff disintegrate. Other exercises that are definitely out for the recreational lifter are: Leg Curls (Quad and Hamstring), Dead Lift and Military Press. Each of these exercises are too often abused and cause a large number of gym injuries every year. If you do them, be sure you have a trained fitness professional help you with your form… but even then be wary, they were most likely trained in the old school. Body Weight Exercises IN! Could you believe that exercises over 5000 years old could be making a comeback?!?! There’s a reason they are still around… they work!!! Exercises like the Upward Dog/Downward Dog, Hindu Squat, and the Sun Salute are coming back big time because exercise professionals have seen their benefits over and over and over again. These exercises don’t isolate, they give you a full body workout stimulating all your muscle groups, your GI system, your nervous system and your heart. Talk about efficiency! Hydrogenated Oils OUT! No more Trans-Fats! We won’t take it anymore! For those of you who don’t know, trans-fats or hydrogenated oils are what the big food companies have been putting in your snack foods since the 1960’s to extend the shelf life of their products. These are modified oils that can take a serious toll on the body–scaring arteries and causing heart disease. You body reads these fats just like it would other fats and distributes them accordingly… problem is, the trans-fats don’t do the same functions that the regular fats do… in fact they do NOTHING except hang around and clog your arteries. Next time you pick up any packaged food, look at the ingredients. If you see hydrogenated oils (or partially) put it down and try a new product without them! Beware, this might be a trying task. Many of the foods we eat have been loaded with this stuff for years. But if you stick it to the trans-fats, your body will thank you! Cod Liver Oil… IN! You heard me right. Cod Liver Oil is IN! Your grandmother might be proud to hear it… but many people think gross, gross and more gross! But what’s great is that you can get the oil in pill form for those of you how don’t like the thought of swigging a tablespoon of this miracle oil every morning. Why is it good for you? Vitamin E and Omega 3 Oils are essential for your circulation and lower your risk of cardiovascular disease! Good fats work wonders for your heart. In the winter, get a product like Carlson’s that has vitamins A and D added. The A will help with your skin, eyes and mucus membranes. And since you’re probably away from the sun more often than not in the cold months, you can get the D from the oil for strong bones and calcium absorption! Atkins Diet - Simple Advice

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

By Martin Smith Just like any other diet, the Atkins diet can become boring and for some very dangerous. Before you get into the plan make sure you get a physical and talk to your doctor. We already know that the diet works but how do you work the diet? There is plenty of advice and information available online and in the library. The Atkins Diet is an attempt to trick your body into burning stored fat rather than the carbohydrates you consume for energy. In the process you might have some physical reactions that are important to know about. The good news is that there are things you can do to combat some of the side effects. Some people experience dizziness or cramps or other physical effects from the changes you are making in your diet. There are things you can do to prevent or alleviate these things. Be aware that you could experience dizziness, leg cramps, or brain fog. Remember that the mineral potassium is washed out of your system fairly quickly. Do not eat a banana instead take 90 milligrams of a potassium supplement. It should start working to relieve your symptoms in about an hour. Below are some suggestions that will help keep you healthy while on the Atkins Diet Plan. These are suggestions to help you combat the symptoms while your body adjusts to the changes. * Eat enough calories. For most people eight to ten calories for every pound of current weight. Too few calories will cause your body to go into starvation mode and weight loss will either slowdown or stop completely. * Drink enough water. You must drink at least 68 ounces of water a day. Some believe that you should drink half of your weight in water daily. Water helps lipolysis and in getting rid of keytones. * Weigh and measure yourself once a week only while on the Atkins plan. You should see a decrease in inches and even if you dont, you will see it in weight. * Eat the amount of carbs that make you feel your best. * Eat only natural, unprocessed, nutrient dense carbohydrates. Stay away from sugar. * Exercise regularly. If you are told you can lose weight without exercise, run dont walk in the opposite direction. Physical exercise helps your body to use the food you consume appropriately. Too little exercise can do as much damage as too much exercise. Your doctor can help you determine what your activity level should be. Start off really slow and build up so that you will gain more benefit from your food plan and exercise. * Continue to take nutrient supplements according to your needs and under a doctors supervision. * Keep a weight loss and food journal. If a significant event happens like the death of someone close, the loss of a job, or too many bills you might want to note that. These events could affect how you eat. Actually anything significant that happens should be noted because good stuff can also affect you. In this journal you should also note exactly what you eat at each meal, and if you are a diabetic you will be able to understand how certain foods affect your blood sugar levels negatively or positively. Obviously you will be noting your daily testing results. By doing this you will be able to recognize patterns. When are your levels the highest or the lowest? Be sure to share these things with your physician, as he or she will be able to help you determine what to do. * Read the labels on everything. Look for any hidden sugars like syrups and look for anything that ends in …ose, such as lactose, fructose, sucrose, maltose and dextrose. * Lose weight faster. In order to accomplish this try reducing your caffeine intake. * Set realistic goals. A healthy weight loss typically is not much more than one to three pounds a week. Any more than that could be unsafe. Losing weight too quickly can trick your body into thinking that it is starving and rather than losing weight your body will stop losing weight and try to hang on to what it can to survive. Aside from all of that, note that any large initial weight loss will likely return if you return to normal eating habits. If a diet seems too good to be true, It probably is. The best kind of diet is one that encourages balanced meals, moderate activity, and supplements as needed. Before taking any kind of supplement make sure that it is appropriate for you. Although they may be all natural, they are not necessarily safe. They can still negatively interact with any medications and you could still develop allergic reactions to it. Bear in mind that nothing should be take with out your doctors input. Bane Clene System Use

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Bruce Gors Many people with allergies hesitate to have their carpets professionally cleaned because this can cause allergens to stir up in the air. This results in some pretty miserable days for the allergy sufferer until the allergens have again settled into the carpet where they began in the first place. If you are a person that suffers from allergies, youd have to plan a day or two away from home for a good carpet cleaning. That is, you would have had to do this in the past, before the Bane Clene System and the colloidal cleaning product. Instead of releasing these allergens into the air, when cleaning carpets or mattresses, the cleaning agent in Cleaning Green removes the allergens from the fibers. The Bane Clene System doubles that in their reputation for being able to remove allergens so that they are never a problem. If you are a person that suffers from allergies, you will not have to schedule a mini vacation the next time you want your carpet cleaned. Because of the combination of the Cleaning Green solution and the Bane Clene System, the allergens will no longer exist within your home. They will not simply be released so that they can fall back to the floor where they began. They will be eliminated. The organic cleaning product in itself is a healthier way to go. It will cut down on the allergens that are present in your home. The more organic cleaning products you use in your home, the healthier your home will be. Mattresses are another area in which allergens can become a problem. If they have enough time to collect on your mattress, they will begin to adversely affect your health. Cleaning green will clean mattresses and eliminate the allergens that get the opportunity to collect. Using the Bane Clene System, allergens will be removed from your mattress. You spend every night of your life breathing in the air that is around your mattress. If youre a belly sleeper, you will have an even harder time dealing with a mattress that has had an opportunity to collect allergens. This is not time to throw away the mattress and start the collection process all over. It is the time to let us come with the Cleaning Green solution and the Bane Clene System and take care of the problem. When the mattress is dry, it will be like sleeping on a brand new one, as far as clean goes anyway. The combination of the Cleaning Green solution and the Bane Clene System produces unequalled results in the quality of your newly cleaned floor. The more quality that is put into a job of cleaning, the less it will need to be done. Our products and services will leave you with a clean and healthy home. Reaching Your Consumer the Way They Want You to

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Jeremy Knauff At the annual American Association of Advertising Agencies media conference last week, speakers stated that the industry must cater to consumers empowered by technology and multiple content choices. A joint study with Harris Interactive and the American Association of Advertising Agencies reported that roughly one-third of consumers say there is too much advertising interrupting programming. So…in a nutshell, as business owners, what this means is that we need to find ways to interact with our consumers in ways that are convenient for them while not interrupting them from what they are trying to do. While it may sound like a contradiction, it is certainly achievable. For example, most web site owners and anyone engaging in internet marketing has already realized that despite grabbing visitors attention in a big way, pop-up or pop-under ads generally perform very poorly if at all. In fact, they can often have a negative impact on a visitors experience and remove all possibility of them becoming a client or customer of the company in question. On the other hand, many companies have had great success with simple text links within relevant copy on a web site. There are several reasons for the success of this type of advertising, such as: Relation to the content The visitor is reading a particular page of a web site because it is of some interest. Conversely, links to relevant content elsewhere are more likely to be of interest to that visitor than those that are not. Ease of use All a visitor has to do is click the link. Unobtrusiveness A simple text link is not a pop-up, banner or big honking flash ad that plays circus music, therefore will not annoy visitors. To use this idea in your marketing, all that you have to do is present your message in the manner that your prospects want to receive it, make it simple to use and most of all dont annoy them. Perhaps you don’t know how or when your prospects want to receive our message, what they consider simple, or what annoys them. There is a solution for that as well. Ask them. Jeremy L. Instant Bad Credit Loan

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christian_N]Christian N A bad credit loan will usually carry with it an extremely high interest rate and may require some types of collateral to be pledged as security for the loan. Bad credit loans may also require a co-signer to limit the risk involved with lending money to an individual who has shown poor credit management in the past. There are differences in credit that allow one person to qualify for a bad credit loan, while another is denied. The main difference is whether or not the bad credit is in the past, or current. Those people that have a bad credit history can usually find methods to reestablish their credit utilizing a bad credit loan as a first step. Those that are in the midst of credit card default, or currently in bankruptcy proceedings may be denied all bad credit loans. Lenders are willing to give all individuals a chance when it comes to reestablishing their credit, however there must be some evidence of responsible credit use to document the change now and in the future of credit behavior. Lenders will still want to check a borrower’s credit FICO score. Some lenders will not lend a bad credit loan to borrowers that have a score of 575 or below. Some lenders do not even check credit scores if the borrower has pledged enough collateral to secure the bad credit loan. Home equity loans are granted, not on credit score, but on the equity in the home pledged as collateral. Bad credit loans can also come in the form of a home equity loan. A bad credit loan borrower can pledge not only their home, but their automobile, their boat, their stocks and bonds, or their life insurance policies (if applicable) as collateral. Most bad credit loans will require some type of collateral, and all require job stability, consistence, and an income to loan ratio to be sure the borrower can afford to repay the loan. If a borrower had bad credit due to high balances on credit cards, they may be able to get a loan or a gift from family and friends to pay down the credit cards below 20% of their limit in order to qualify for a bad credit loan, which will in turn pay back the friend or relative. Installment loans such as a bad credit loan, a mortgage, auto, or equity loan actually improve one’s credit because they show fixed payment amounts paid regularly. Too many revolving accounts, such as credit cards, with varying balances tend to lower a borrowers credit score for receiving bad credit loans. Getting debt down should be the goal. Having no debt is ideal. In the Bible in Romans 13:8 it says “Owe no man anything”. If God doesn’t want his children to be choked with debt, why should His children want it for themselves? Management Consultant Asks: Why Aren’t You Earning Residual Income?

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

By Dr. Gary S. Goodman I want to say something quite clearly and emphatically, and ask you to repeat it to yourself a few times: MY COMPENSATION IS ENTIRELY ARBITRARY! For example, lets say you write computer programs for a software company that packages your code into products that it sells to customers. You will probably be paid a salary, perhaps earn an annual bonus, and accrue some vacation time. You may also get some benefits, including a partially paid health plan. All of this seems so normal, so typical that you never question this menu of dollars and perks. Sure, you may want a greater helping of salary, but still, as long as there is a salary and a few other goodies, youre set. But what if one of your software programs really takes off in the marketplace? Will you be entitled to receive royalties from it, have any ongoing equity interest in it, or ever be able to claim a bigger desk, a reserved parking space, or any material advantage from its performance? The short answer is no. If you ask your company about it, they may smirk or laugh or just look at you as if youre nuts and say, in a conclusive, parental monotone: We dont do that. They wont say WHY they dont do it, because they probably havent thought it through. In fact, paying you royalties or a residual income may be in their interest, it may spawn innovation, create that extra spark of incentive to attract and retain the very best designers. How, then do companies decide what theyre going to pay? MONKEY-SEE, MONKEY-DO! They imitate each other. Some call it benchmarking, others conduct salary surveys, but the net of it is the same. They mirror each other. Breaking the paradigm is difficult, once it has been established. Let me give you an example. One of my clients is a consultant who shows his clients how to save money on their printed advertising. Specifically, he knows how to tweak ads so they can be smaller, cost less, but yield better results than large ads. He charges a percentage of the savings hes able to generate, which seems very reasonable, right? If he doesnt save them money or improve the ads, they dont pay. Only if they get results do they have to pay. What can be sweeter? But he has found that is not the way his clients want to pay. They prefer paying him for his TIME, which is the way the great majority of consultants bill their clients. They believe, of course, that if they pay only for time, theyll reap the benefit of his expertise, for less. But even if they traded dollars, or if they saved money his way, theyd prefer to do it theirs, which is the traditional way. When it comes to compensation, tradition dies hard. But there is hope, if youre creative, diligent, talented, and they need you. Check out the movie, Ray, about the life of the great singer, Ray Charles. Youll probably like the music, but listen for the part when he insists in his contract negotiations that he own the rights to the masters of his recordings. Theyll tell him its unprecedented, but finally, theyll yield. To borrow a phrase, when it comes to compensation, you dont get what you deserve. You get what you negotiate, and they wont break with tradition, unless and until you do! Dr. Gary S. Goodman is the best-selling author of 12 books, over 600 articles, and the creator of numerous audio and video training programs, including “The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable,” published by Nightingale-Conant-a favorite among salespeople and entrepreneurs. Business Entities - A Quick Guide

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

By Richard Chapo Business entities comes in so many types that business owners can easily get confused. Heres a quick guide that will hopefully shed a little light on business entities for you. Business Entities “C” Corporation: A corporation whose shares are held by shareholders. The entity stands apart from the shareholders for legal and tax purposes. The shares of the corporation may be taken public and traded on stock markets. Google is an example of a publicly traded C corporation. Foreign Corporation: A corporation doing business in a jurisdiction beyond where it was formed. Microsoft is a Washington corporation. When it does business in New York, it is considered a foreign corporation. General Partnership: A business effort involving two or more people, known as partners. Each partner is liable for all partnership debts and obligations regardless participation and contribution amounts. Put another way, a general partnership provides no protection against lawsuits. Holding Company: Part of a double incorporation strategy. The sole purpose of a holding company is to own or control other companies. Said other companies typically are exposed to significant liability threats. For instance, many insurance companies use holding companies to suck off profits and limit lawsuit risks. Joint Venture: A cooperative business effort between two or more parties. It is usually limited to a single business purpose and involves a sharing of responsibilities and revenues. For instance, a database programmer and web site designer might enter a joint venture to provide e-commerce solutions to businesses. LLC - Limited Liability Company: A creation of state law in which one or more individuals form an entity providing the liability protection of a corporation, but the tax benefits of a partnership. Limited Partnership: A partnership in which the business is managed by a general partner with limited partners supplying capital investment. The limited partners are prohibited from actively participating in the management of the partnership. In exchange, the limited partners liability is limited to the amount of their investment. In pursuing this business entity, the general partner is almost always a corporation. Partnership by Estoppel: A partnership created by operation of law when two or more people pursue a business goal and hold themselves out to the public as such. This business entity is prevalent as it is the automatic designation for two people doing business who fail to take any steps to designate a business entity. In this entity, each partner is completely exposed to liability risks. “S” Corporation: Similar to a C corporation, this entity provides solid asset protection for shareholders from business liabilities and debts. The primary difference is the entity can be taxed as a pass through entity and is limited to 75 shareholders. Sole Proprietorship: A business owned and controlled by one person.
