Maryland Personal Injury Lawyers

Monday, April 28th, 2008

By Richard Romando Personal injury law, also known as “tort law,” includes physical and emotional injuries caused by various reasons such as slips and falls, road accidents, use of defective products, defamation, medical malpractice and animal bites. Sometimes the injuries can be minor or can be healed with time. Such victims do not have to go to court to receive compensation, and the party that caused the injuries offers compensation. However, some personal injuries may have grave consequences and affect a victim forever. If a personal injury has occurred in Maryland, it is advisable for the victim to hire a reputed lawyer. It is important to know the statute of limitations in Maryland to know the permitted time limit for filing a personal injury lawsuit. Good personal injury lawyers can offer guidance to victims to decide the course of action. They protect the rights of their clients, and ensure that they receive the maximum compensation from the defendants and the insurance companies. Experienced personal injury lawyers have adequate expertise in dealing with insurance companies. The procedure of personal injury lawsuits may vary according to the type of personal injury. Medical malpractice lawyers have a good understanding of medical terminology. They often consult medical experts to determine if the victims have valid grounds for filing a claim. According to personal injury law, individuals who are substantially exposed to hazardous waste can also file for compensation if they suffer from some sort of disorder or illness resulting from it. As the personal injury lawsuits vary considerably, it is recommended to hire a lawyer who has represented similar types of personal injury cases. There are lawyers who are specialized in specific areas of personal injury law. Lawyers and reputed law firms usually offer free initial consultation. They evaluate the cases of victims and advise them accordingly. All personal injury lawyers usually charge on a contingency fee basis. Injury Lawyers provides detailed information on Injury Lawyers, Personal Injury Lawyers, Brain Injury Lawyers, Birth Injury Lawyers and more. Injury Lawyers is affiliated with Brain Injury Attorneys. Stopping Hospital Infections

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lance_Winslow] Lance Winslow Each year hospitals end up killing twice as many people than automobiles, some 90,000 deaths in the United States. It is not from malpractice, it is due to infections. Hospital infections affect over 2 million patients every year. Scientists are working to prevent these infections one of the newest innovations is silver nano-particles. Microscopic anti-microbial coated nano-particles would be used to keep the infections at bay. Tools used in surgery would be coated with these particles, along with perhaps rubber gloves. One of the companies working on this scheme is AcryMed, which makes surgical devices in Portland, Oregon. Almost any medical device, which is used in surgery or pokes thru the skin are potentially at risk to spread deadly infections. Deadly microbes can live on biofilms or thin layers of slimy biomaterial so small that they cannot be seen without a microscope. If someone is infected it could cost over $50,000 to keep them in the hospital to treat them, obviously the return on investment to sterilize and coat the surgery utensils makes sense. Silver has been used to treat infections throughout time and there are ancient writings of its use in both Greek and Roman writings. Recently another coating technology has come onto the scene, the use of titanium dioxide, which is being used on laboratory counters, fast food restaurant stainless steel food preparation tables and on military equipment in case of chemical or biological attack. A silver based wound ointment is an obvious use for this technology as well, for military medics and first responders. These coatings are relatively easy to apply using similar hydrophobic methods used in glass coatings to prevent water spots and make them chip resistant. Think on this and all its potential applications. “Lance Winslow” - Online [http://www.WorldThinkTank.net/wttbbs/] Think Tank forum board. Meet Jesus without Dying

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

By Lance Winslow A recent survey was done and they asked people if time travel were possible who would like to go meet in the past? Who might you like to have lunch or dinner with? Most people chose Jesus and it wasnt just because he always had red wine with the meal. In fact in the United States Jesus won by a fairly large margin, beating out our founding father such as Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and of course lets not forget Martin Luther King to round out a politically correct line up. Indeed, Jesus seemed to beat out all the other top three men combined. Why is this? Is it because he has become a symbol of goodness in the world? Is it because Jesus represents the Christian religion? Is it because 35% of Americans claim to have a personal relationship with Jesus and consider him their personal savior? Would a Holographic projection of Jesus help others visualize his image and come back to God? Would it help others to adopt Jesus as their personal savior and invisible friend? Wouldnt that be a good thing for peace on Earth and Humanity? Well, it soon maybe possible, as Holographic Technologies are getting closer to becoming reality. We will enjoy Virtual Reality on our 360 X-Box in our living rooms. Than means we can have Jesus right in our homes to help us pray. It will help the children understand the concept of God and Jesus and Christianity, so they to can become indoctrinated into the Christian Religion at an early age, so they may live the good life. Wont that be wonderful for all? Perhaps churches may also have holographic Jesus images during ceremonies to help with tithing collection, so they can spend this money in good ways to help the community after paying their expenses and the salary of the Preachers. Surely the extra tithing monies will more than pay for the cost of this high-tech equipment to project Jesus into the room. Such a dazzling show is surely worth the ROI to afford a bonus for the staff and perhaps a new car for the preacher. After all that old clunker needs replacing too. Think on this. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. Using Hydrogen Peroxide in Your Hydroponics Gardening System

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

By Jason Willkomm There are no doubts about the benefits of using hydrogen peroxide properly in a hydroponics system. This becomes especially true if your nutrient reservoir is kept above 72 degrees. Warm water holds less dissolved oxygen, and therefore encourages the growth of more viruses, fungi, and anaerobic bacteria. Hydrogen peroxide adds oxygen to you water and cleans the water of pathanogens. Benefits include healthier root systems, increased nutrient uptake, thicker stems, and bigger leaves. One expert claims it should be used on all soil gardens as well as in hydroponics sytems. Knowing as much as I do about beneficial fungus and micro-organisms and the benefits they provide to living plants, I am shy in taking this advice. However, when this first line of defense fails and plants become sick I often resort to using hydrogen peroxide treatments on my soil grown plants. The chemical formula of hydrogen peroxide is H2O2. You may notice it is simply water with an extra oxygen atom. In fact, as hydrogen peroxide breaks down in a solution the result is oxygen and water. Its application helps deliver oxygen to over watered plant roots and helps to sterilize the growing media by killing harmful anaerobic (not oxygen compatible) bacteria and pathanogens that cause disease. This includes bacterial wilt, pythium fungi, fusarium fungi, and others. I avoid using the common 3% hydrogen peroxide you normally find at drug stores. This is because such low percentage solutions are unstable, and chemicals are added to the peroxide to keep it from breaking down before it can be used. I did a little research because I did not know what chemicals were used for this, or if the plants uptake these chemicals, or if there was a health risk associated with any of these stabilizing chemicals. Hydrogen peroxide is usually stabilized with acetanilide. Acetanilide is a synthetic compound that was first used for its fever reduction and pain killing properties in the late Nineteenth Century. For many years it was utilized as an alternative to aspirin to treat various ailments, but large-scale medical use stopped when the toxic side effects of consuming acetanilide became apparent. This was enough to make up my mind to use 35% hydrogen peroxide instead. Firstly, 35% peroxide is caustic and should be treated with the same caution as a strong acid. 35% strength hydrogen peroxide should be readily available at any quality hydroponics supply shop. The stronger concentrations do not use the added stabilizers. The recommended dosage is to add 2-3 ml to each gallon of water, however, I use 5 ml per gallon and have never had any problems. At every nutrient change treat your fresh water with hydrogen peroxide. The general idea is to let the hydroponics sytem circulate the hydrogen peroxide solution for about a half hour to let the peroxide work against pathogens and to let the solution stabilize before adding your nutrients. The beneficial effects of using hydrogen peroxide last about 4 days. There are some gardeners who add a little peroxide to their nutrient reservoirs every 5 days in between nutrient changes. If you decide to do this, stick to the guidelines and always make sure your solution is thoroughly mixed before exposing your plants roots to it. Another option is to top off your nutrient reservoir with peroxide treated water whenever it is low. Balancing Act

Monday, April 14th, 2008

By Nick Gendler One of the most obvious implications of the end of the “job for life” society is that if we wish to hold on to our job we need to demonstrate our utility to the employer. For many, this is interpreted as working long hard hours, and the “stay at work” culture is often the result. But is this necessary? Did anyone actually lose his or her job by going home at a normal time? People lose their jobs either because they are no good at it (known as being fired) or because the company is not performing well or is restructuring in some way (known as being made redundant). Indeed, for many employers, working late is not a sign of loyalty; it is a sign of incompetence. If you can’t get the work done within a normal working day you are either badly organised or haven’t learned to say “no” to an over-demanding employer. And if you need to work long hours on a regular basis you are likely to be less and less productive over time because you are going to burn out and your morale is going to decline. If this is the case, why do we feel that the employers are trying to deny us balance in our work and life arrangements? First of all let’s examine the term itself. I’ve never liked the phrase “work-life balance”. It suggests that work is one activity and life is a separate, conflicting activity. The truth is that work is one part of our life and it competes for our time against the other activities in our life that we wish to attend to. I prefer to use the simpler term “life balance” or “life mix”. The key factor in life balance is “time” and, critically, work is perhaps the only use of our time that we do not have control over. If we chose when, and for how long we work, the number of hours we allocate to it would not present a conflict. The recent dispute between BA employees and the airline at Heathrow was not some Luddite reaction to new technology, it was born out of the fact that this particular technology is a mechanism to allow BA to manage to a fine degree when it’s employees come in to work in accordance with passenger volumes. Of course BA has the right to choose which particular hours it employ people for, but the fact remains that the mechanism shifts time sovereignty from the employee to the employer. For executives the situation is slightly different. While there are always going to be times when we just need to be in the office in order to complete a task like preparing for a meeting (’though I’d wager that the majority of these case could easily be extinguished with better organisation and planning), employees do have more autonomy than manual workers in terms of the hours spent at work. Contracts, written and verbal, tend to operate on the basis that we do the work expected of us, but that how and when (within an agreed timeframe) is up to us. If you’re good and you can do it in a six-hour day I doubt you’re going to be fired for not being there the other one (although it is more likely that you’ll be given more work). My contention therefore, is that, people who sign up to the “stay at work” culture choose to do so. That’s fine by me. It seems that in our enlightened society late working is a “bad thing”. As a rich nation we should be spending less time at work and more time doing mind expanding, fulfilling things with our time, spending it with our friends and family, or exercising. Yet for many people, work is the most fulfilling and stimulating activity in their life. Why should it be the case that there is anything wrong with workaholism? Is it wrong that these people should work 80 hours or more each week? The problem is that the time sovereignty of employees is gradually being eroded, largely through the introduction of family friendly policies. Far from giving workers flexibility, these policies shackle the staff to the organisation, by creating such an infrastructure of support that to leave would require not just the hard enough task of adjusting to the new employer, but also the need to put back into place all the other arrangements that were previously taken care of. A recent initiative I heard about comes from Asda. IVF treatment allowance for women (5 days per annum) and their partners (11/2 days) is their latest big idea. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m all for IVF for those that want it, and welcome the idea that employers should allow their staff to take time off for it, just as with any other medical matter. My point is that such initiatives do not constitute a meaningful step towards improving the life balance of employees because improved life balance requires a fundamental review of how we spend our lives, not whether we can get a few hours off every few weeks for medical treatment. The truth is that initiatives such as this and flexible working, crches and duvet days are a response to the difficulties in attracting and retaining staff. Staff retention is much more a problem with larger companies, which is why they are ahead of the game. By upping the ante these employers will achieve short to medium term advantages which will be lost when the rest of industry finally works out what they need to do to attract and retain staff. What’s more, the advantage is rarely, if ever, with the staff. Instead the expectations to perform and show commitment is increased, usually with such strings attached as “golden handcuffs”, long notice periods, and the provision of equipment for home-working which at once allows flexibility to the employee and ties them for even longer hours to the company - they can never escape work. When the playing field has been levelled it will simply be that employers will have removed any argument or reason for us not to devote our lives to them. We are moving away from, not towards, greater control of our working lives, and the reason is that we are allowing employers to take away our time sovereignty. If I don’t have an issue about picking up the children from nursery because the nursery is down on the first floor, then the company gets that time from me and I don’t get to choose how to organise my life, or that of my children. So let’s stop looking to our employers to provide us with life balance - they are only concerned with our work lives. It’s up to us to take control of our time and our job satisfaction. We are not exhausted and de-motivated by running around trying to balance our busy lives; we are exhausted and de-motivated because we do not derive fulfilment from our lives. Work should excite, engage, stimulate and give meaning. It’s up to us to decide the extent to which we should pursue it in order to achieve those objectives. The specific balance between work, family, hobbies, health, relaxation and whatever else might be on your own personal menu of time use is entirely up to you. Only you know how much of each you need in any given time period. It’s my belief that over recent years the pressure to “succeed” (a term that has now taken an almost exclusive reference to professional status or wealth) has encouraged us to spend more time at work than our natural balance would recommend. Yet these are simply excuses. We can change our lifestyles if we want to, it is within our control as long as we are prepared to reduce our material desires and to take a good long look at what we do for employment. I contend that the vast majority of people have not chosen their current career but have fallen into it more or less by serendipity. When asked if they really “love” their jobs and why they chose their careers most will be stumped, while many professionals (lawyers, doctors, accountants, etc) will refer to family pressure to secure their future in a sensible occupation. The employee who does not know how to balance his life in an optimally fulfilling way, or else is scared to address the fact that the “balance” he wants does not necessarily match the balance his wife wants for him (I have deliberately alluded to men in this scenario as I believe we are the ones who would rather immerse ourselves in work than attend to our emotions and relationships) is the one with a real problem to address. Moving on, sadly, is a scary alternative. “Better the devil you know” is the usual response. “I may not be happy but I’m paid well” doesn’t sound like a good trade off to me. Of course we’re all for more life, as long as it doesn’t mean a salary trade-off. It’s a pity that so many people either feel they cannot afford to buy themselves any time away from work, or else engage in the “stay at work” culture that keeps them in the office until only a taxi can get them home because they feel that somehow the pole becomes less slippery after 5.30 pm. With that attitude regret is sure to follow at some time or other. The argument I’m presenting is not that flexible working and similar initiatives are wrong. I’m arguing that individuals, that’s you and me, not our employers, need to identify what we really want for our work and how to increase fulfilment from it and the rest of our lives. By maximising our fulfilment we reduce stress and that’s the key to what we seek when we strive for better life balance. How we manage to get the kids to the dentist or find time to mow the lawn at the weekend follow on as easy decisions when our priorities are in place. Healing Crisis A Natural Part of Body Cleansing

Friday, April 11th, 2008

By Kris Kelkar Introduction to A Healing Crisis An increasing number of people today are trying alternative healing methods to cleanse and detoxify their bodies. Simple methods such as switching to a natural food diet, juicing to increase nutrition, or fasting are used to cleanse the body of stored toxins in the hopes of naturally addressing long-standing symptoms such as chronic headaches, adult acne, allergies or arthritis. More intensive methods may be used to perform cleansing of the bodys elimination organs: colon, kidney and liver. However, many people trying these and other alternative health cleansing methods discontinue them when they experience new symptoms of ill health. Generally, these new symptoms are in actuality not a new disease or malady affecting the body, but rather a healing crisis. Healing Crisis Defined A healing crisis is when symptoms from diseases and toxins that are released during a detoxification process manifest themselves. Also known as “Herxheimer Reaction”, a healing crisis occurs when toxins stored in the body are released at a faster rate than can be properly eliminated. The more toxic one’s body is, the more severe the detoxification and the more intense the reaction. A healing crisis is characterized by a temporary increase in symptoms during a cleansing or detoxification process. Such symptoms may be mild or severe, depending on the bodys original toxicity, but are definitely temporary. They can occur immediately, within several days, or even several weeks of a cleansing program. Reverse Order What is not immediately intuitive is that symptoms are experienced in the reverse order of when the body was originally exposed to their cause. This simple explanation may help demonstrate the reason. Assume that every year you painted your walls a different color. As time went on, you layered color upon color. Finally after 30 years, you found that the newest paint was not sticking properly because layers of paint underneath were cracking and coming off. So you decided to strip all of the paint off the walls and give it a fresh coat of paint. As you started stripping off paint, you saw earlier layers. In the process of cleaning and stripping the walls, you got glimpses of what your walls were like and what they went through in prior years. Believe it or not, human bodies work in a similar fashion. As bodies store fat, the chemistry of the fat reflects the internal body conditions at the time the fat was stored. Each year, a residue of the viruses, bacteria and toxins you were exposed to were stored in fatty deposits. Similar to the paint stripping analogy, as a body is cleansed, stored toxins, bacteria, and viruses are released. As they are released, symptoms experienced with the particular malady or event associated with the toxin are re-experienced albeit in a milder form. Possible Symptoms A healing crisis can have a variety of possible symptoms, depending on what the body underwent during the initial toxic encounter. Symptoms can include: muscle cramps or painarthritic flair upsdiarrheaextreme fatigue restlessnessheadachesinsomniasinus congestion feverskin eruptionsstrong emotions or mood swings Recommended Treatment During a healing crisis, it is important that the cleansing program be continued. Continued cleansing will help the body rid itself of released toxins and diseases forever. Following these simple steps may help to relieve some of the symptoms of the healing crisis.Drinking plenty of fresh water helps the body eliminate released toxins. Increasing fiber intake and taking supplements to cleanse the colon and kidneys will also help to accelerate the elimination of toxins. If fatigued, give the body restMeditation can help to manage symptoms such as strong emotions and mood swingsMore Information Additional information on body cleansing and detoxification can be found at The-Natural-Path.com. Deciding if Marriage is Right for You

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

By Roman Zazulak For many couples, marriage is a simple decision; you are in love and know that you want to spend the rest of your life together. However, for many people that have been married before or are cautious whenever making life changing decisions, deciding if marriage is right for you takes lots of time and thought. Here are some tips to help you decide if marriage is right for you. Separate your heart from your mind. It might sound cold, but marriage requires you to enter into a legal contract with another person. While many married couples are happy and in love, almost 50% of marriages end today in divorce, enough for many people to second guess their decisions on whether it is a good idea to enter into marriage. Make sure that both you and your partner are fully committed to each other and have the same life goals. If you want a big family, but your partner doesnt, this issue should be discussed before hand instead of thinking everything will work itself out. For the most part, most things do not work themselves out so easily. In addition, no one gets married thinking that they will be getting divorced, however if there are problems or cracks in the relationship before you are married, you should definitely solve these problems before proceeding. Another important issue you should discuss is whether you and your partner are financially ready to get married. Marriage costs money; not only planning a wedding, but also finding a place to live and starting a family, if you are both in school or just out of school, you might want to wait a few years until you have some money saved and are ready to start your life together without being in debt. In his quest for finding the perfect wife, Roman tried every method imaginable until he finally got married to Gigi in 2004. Woe to Ariel! (Jerusalem to suffer EU occupation)

Monday, April 7th, 2008

By David Ben-Ariel Isaiah 29:1 Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! Carl Sandburg, an American writer warned: “If America forgets where she came from…if she listens to the deniers and mockers, then will begin the rot and dissolution.” The same principle applies to our Jewish brethren in Israel. The most merciful God of Jacob-Israel resurrected the nation of Israel from the graveyard of history and offered us a new opportunity to fulfill our unique calling to become a model nation, a kingdom of priests, a light to all nations, based upon the Law and the Prophets. Yet secular Jews, Hellenist Jews, UNJews, have divorced themselves from the Bible and have sought to make Israel just like all the other nations. And the corrupt Chief Rabbinate and blind religious leaders have woefully neglected (and forfeited by default) Judaism’s most holy site: the Temple Mount. Despite the faithlessness of many of Israel’s leaders, the Great God of the Universe liberated areas of Judea and Samaria and restored Judaism’s holiest site (supposedly) - the Temple Mount - into Jewish hands. Did Israel immediately invite the God of history to return with our exiles (now making aliyah) by building the Third Temple? Did they honor the God of our fathers by creating an Embassy for the Eternal upon the Temple Mount? No! Instead Israelis despised their most sacred inheritance, the crown jewel of Jerusalem, and permitted militant Muslims to continue their abominable occupation. The foreign foxes terrorize faithful Jews and Christian Zionists who attempt to worship upon the Temple Mount and illegally refuse to let them pray or read the Bible. Israel has failed to uphold religious rights for non-Muslims (that are trampled daily) and has failed to guarantee “freedom of access.” The biblical solution is to build the “House of Prayer for All Peoples” spoken of by the Prophets. Queen Victoria said: “I think it very unwise to give up what we hold,” referring to territories of the British-Israelite empire. Judah has been “very unwise” to surrender holy land to the enemies of God and Israel in the name of a lying peace. The accursed and treacherous Oslo accords, like a murderous cancer, continue to eat away at the very foundations of the Jewish state and the Jews have only themselves to blame. Does someone have to be a prophet to recognize prophetic trends and to be grieved about them? Or to perceive that divine judgment is surely coming upon our beloved nations? Can’t we just be like righteous King Josiah who HEARD AND BELIEVED the inspired words of the PROPHETS? (2 Chron. 34:15-33). He took God’s “ancient” warning seriously and then did everything he could to avert national disaster! God respected him for it. Yet the American, British and Jewish peoples today despise those who dare come forth, teaching and preaching the Word of God, encouraging repentance to spare our people from the unprecedented “Time of Jacob’s Trouble,” “the Great Tribulation” (Jer. 30:7, Matt. 24:21). At least, when they’re temporarily crushed under the heels of a German-led Europe, when the Jewish Quarter is made Judenrein and the Temple Mount seized and occupied by Vatican forces that are intent on ripping the heart out of Israel for their pagan purposes (Dan. 11:45, Zech. 14:2), they will remember that they had been warned by a loving God, and hopefully will then have a change of heart and attitude that will hasten the process of redemption and welcome home the Messiah whom Two Witnesses will announce to the cities of Judah and proclaim to the world (Zech. 12:10).
